Trip to Paducah – AQS Quilt Show
George and Trevor made the journey to Quilt City USA for the 22nd annual American Quilters Society Quilt Show and Contest. The small but quaint city of 30,000 people, open their homes and hearts to about 30,000 visitors once each year. The residents of Paducah are wonderful hosts and seem quite surprised if you tell them that Paducah is famous. Paducah is home of the National Quilt Museum where you will find one of a kind, “stop you in your tracks” gorgeous quilts.
In the photos above you can see Trevor with his good friend and America's quilting sweetheart Kaye Wood. In the center is Trevor with the teaching staff from the 2006 AQS Quilt Show. Trevor presented “the art of digitizing embroidery” at the show. On the right Trevor is with his new friend Ricky Tims who is an American Quilting Legend. Ricky also adds pianist, composer and producer to his list of talents and entertained the ladies with his variety show at the AQS.
Stitchitize had a booth in the Vendor hall at the show. Above is Trevor with some beautiful Red Hat gals in the Stitchitize booth. The Quilts that hang at a show like this are amazing and inspiring. AQS along with it's sponsors gives out over $100,000 in prizes with 20,000 for Best in Show. Above right is Sharon Schamber in front of her Best in Show quilt “Sedona Rose”. The quilt will be added to the permanent collection at the Museum of the American Quilter's Society.
